Below are the details of the machine and what it does.

A diathermy machine uses high-frequency electrical currents to produce heat in body tissues (medical diathermy) or for cutting/coagulating tissues during surgery (surgical diathermy).

• Uses of a Diathermy Machine

1. Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

Relieves muscle pain and spasms.

Reduces joint stiffness.

Improves blood circulation.

Promotes healing of soft tissue injuries (sprains, strains).

•Used in conditions such as:

Arthritis

Low back pain

Frozen shoulder

Tendinitis

Bursitis

2. Surgical Diathermy (Electrosurgery)

Cuts tissue during operations with minimal bleeding.

Coagulates blood vessels to control hemorrhage.

Removes abnormal tissue such as warts and tumors.

Used in general surgery, gynecology, ENT, dermatology, and neurosurgery.

3. Deep Tissue Heating

Heats tissues beneath the skin without excessive surface heating.

Increases tissue extensibility before stretching or exercise.

Diathermy machines are mainly used for pain relief, improving circulation, reducing muscle and joint problems in physiotherapy, and for cutting/coagulating tissues during surgery.

Blame John Dramani Mahama if Ekumfi Doesn’t See Enough Development in the Next Three Years

The question of development in the Ekumfi Constituency has once again come into sharp focus, raising concerns about political loyalty, expectations, and accountability. For decades, the people of Ekumfi have demonstrated a strong political identity, consistently aligning themselves with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 1996. This long-standing loyalty has shaped both their expectations and the political narrative surrounding development in the area.

A notable turning point occurred in 2016 when the constituency made a split decision. While electing an NPP parliamentary candidate, Francis Kingsley Ato Cudjoe, the people simultaneously voted for John Dramani Mahama as President. This unusual political choice reflected a nuanced electorate—one willing to separate parliamentary representation from presidential preference.

However, in subsequent elections, Ekumfi reverted fully to the NDC, voting against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in both parliamentary and presidential contests. This pattern did not go unnoticed. At the time, then-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo openly expressed disappointment, reportedly stating that Ekumfi had voted against its first-time NPP MP, and as a result, he would shift his attention elsewhere. Whether interpreted as political frustration or strategic governance, that statement has since lingered in the minds of many constituents.

Today, the development discourse in Ekumfi cannot be divorced from this political history. It is evident that the people have made their allegiance clear—they have consistently placed their trust in the NDC and, by extension, in leaders like John Dramani Mahama. With this in mind, expectations for development should naturally be directed toward the leadership they have chosen.

It would therefore be misplaced to lay the blame for any developmental shortfalls at the feet of the current Member of Parliament, Othniel Ekow Kwainoe. While MPs play a role in advocacy and local initiatives, the scale of infrastructural and socio-economic transformation that Ekumfi seeks largely depends on executive power and national policy direction.

Moreover, Ekumfi holds a unique place in Ghana’s political and historical landscape as the home of the late President John Evans Atta Mills. This legacy adds another layer of expectation—that the constituency should not have to struggle or plead endlessly for development, given its symbolic importance.

If, in the coming three years, Ekumfi does not witness significant development, the responsibility should be placed where the political mandate lies. The electorate has made its choice clear over the years, and accountability must follow that choice. Leadership is not only about winning votes; it is about delivering on the trust those votes represent.

In conclusion, the people of Ekumfi must align their expectations with their electoral decisions. Political loyalty comes with responsibility—both for leaders and the electorate. If development falls short, it is only fair that the spotlight turns to John Dramani Mahama, whose leadership the people have consistently endorsed.

TRUE LIFE STORY -LIFE IS WALKING

I got married at 25, finished my PhD at 27 and became a Professor at 40.

So fast you see! Yes, everything around me worked fast. It is now that I realise that it was a misplaced priority.

My ambition blindfolded me and I got it all wrong, that is why I am sharing my experience through this medium to warn and encourage our young mothers not to be careless as I was back then.

I worked very hard as a lecturer and as an administrator, always so busy that it became my language to my children...."I'm busy"

My mum was around to nurse the children for me for some time. The moment they clocked ten, I sent them to boarding schools, though my husband was not in support of this. I always found my way.

I had no warm relationship with my children, 2 boys and a girl.

I never knew it was a bad idea not to have time for my husband, children and the household, until 5 years ago, when guilt, loneliness and restlessness filled my heart.

I sent for my children to rejoice with me on my 60th birthday.

The two boys, living in Canada said they are "busy" and that their sister will come down from South Africa.

Two days to my birthday, my daughter sent this message to me, "Mum, I am very sorry not to be around over there, there is no time to squeeze out, my husband needs my attention at his newly established clinic and presently, I'm pregnant. "I'm very very busy,
I'm also lonely in a strange land. Please pray for us mum. Happy birthday". I could not recover from the meaning I got from the message.. "First-things-First". When they needed me for warmth and discussion, I was not available, now I needed them for warmth and discussion I could not get them, rather they returned my slogan back to me, "I'm busy"

To worsen the matter, my dear husband died in his sleep a month after. ...Only one of the children came without his family to the burial ceremony.

I was dumbfounded!!! Considered Opinion: it is good to work and be a hard working fellow.
But hear this important and salient truth:

Parenting is sacrificial work, give it all it takes. Avoid any work that will take away your attention too much from your home - Avoid it and be careful!

SOLIDIFY YOUR HOME FIRST, CREATE TIME FOR YOUR SPOUSE AND CHILDREN.

ESTABLISH THE FEAR OF GOD IN THEIR HEARTS THROUGH YOUR ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR.

THOUGH IT IS COSTLY NOW, THE FUTURE REWARD IS WORTH IT.

THIS IS AN EYE OPENER FOR BOTH MEN & WOMEN.

LET'S BE SELFLESSLY AVAILABLE WHEN OUR CHILDREN NEED US.

Life is about service to one another. Soon we leave the stage and all that is left is memories.

Don't Photocopy Ghana Card for Bank Transactions, says BOG

The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has issued a firm directive against photocopying Ghana Cards for banking transactions.

It insisted that biometric verification must be the standard for identity authentication.

This position was reinforced during a stakeholder engagement held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra, organized by Identity Management Systems II (IMS II) Limited in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIA).

The event, themed ‘Protect every transaction with biometric verification’, brought together the Bank of Ghana, Ghana Association of Banks, National Identification Authority and representatives from the 25 universal banks in Ghana to discuss the critical role of identity verification in securing financial transactions.

Executive Director-IMS II Ltd., James Cantamantu-Koomson, highlighted the fundamental shift in identity management, “The way we do things is changing. Identity is at the center and the engine of our financial system.

The database that the National Identification Authority has gathered is one of the most powerful assets we have as a country.”

His remarks underscored the need to transition from traditional manual processes to a multi-modal biometric verification approach that eliminates security vulnerabilities.

The Bank of Ghana clarified that photocopying Ghana Cards for customer verification is not acceptable.
